WellBeingHER: First Progress Report (M1–M5)
We are excited to present our first WellBeingHER Progress Report, covering the first five months (M1–M5) of our initiative. WellBeingHER is dedicated to supporting women with early-stage breast cancer, and our rapid progress underscores the strong need for this holistic approach.
Progress in the First Five Months
Since the launch of WellBeingHER, we have introduced the initiative in several high-profile webinars. Notably, we presented at Pink October in collaboration with the Cancer Support Group and R&D, the trade union of the European Commission, as well as at London Global Cancer Week. These events allowed us to connect with a wider audience, discuss the importance of holistic cancer care, and gather valuable insights to shape our next steps.
Expanding Our Partner Network
A reliable partner network is essential to WellBeingHER’s success. We are proud to collaborate with institutions and experts across Europe who bring specialised knowledge and commitment to the project:
Physical Activity Foundation (Riga, Latvia): Focused on promoting exercise and community support for cancer patients. Ph.D. Rūdolfs Cešeiko, OAC Exercise & Sport Advisor, and Dr. Tom Degenhardt, OAC Medical Director, lead the physical activity section.
Spanish Association for Sports Performance Analysis (Alicante, Spain): Contributing their expertise to our programme and preparing to launch WellBeingHER training in Spain.
Scientific Research & Publications: Together with Prof. José Antonio Perez-Turpin, Petra Thaller leads the Physical Activity, Exercise and Cancer (PAEC) Journal, where we publish key project results and findings.
These collaborations are key to developing targeted, evidence-based solutions that improve the lives of women affected by breast cancer.
Explore WellBeingHER Online
The WellBeingHER website went live and provides easy access to webinars, videos, and training materials. As we continue to build out the platform, our goal is to create an interactive, knowledge-driven hub that empowers women through information and practical support. Stay tuned as we add more content and tools in the coming months!
First Training Sessions: Spring 2025
The next milestone for WellBeingHER is the launch of our physical activity training programmes in three key locations:
📍 Germany, Latvia, and Spain – Specialised training for cancer patients
📍 4x4 Training in Alicante, Riga, and Munich – A structured approach to movement and recovery
We are moving into implementation ahead of schedule – a clear sign that WellBeingHER is on the right track and meeting an urgent need.
Project Status and Timeline
Our M1–M5 Progress Report confirms that we are already exceeding initial expectations. The momentum is strong, and we are now entering the next development phase, broadening our focus beyond physical activity.
🔹 Nutrition: We are proud to welcome Dr. rer. biol. hum. Nicole Erickson, RD, Health Literacy Coordinator at the Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Munich, who will lead our nutrition pillar, ensuring that WellBeingHER provides practical and evidence-based dietary guidance.
🔹 Mental Well-Being: This key focus area is rapidly advancing, with contributions from experts including Dr. Sabrina Han, who is helping to shape our psychosocial support strategies.
