Advancing the WellBeingHER Programme to Transform Breast Cancer Care
The WellBeingHER (WBH) programme is poised to create a holistic training programme that matches the same level of quality, evidence, relevance, and efficacy, as cancer treatment plans for early breast cancer patients and thus bridge the gap between cutting-edge scientific research and its practical application in the treatment of early breast cancer. WBH aims to establish this connection as an integral part of cancer treatment on a global scale.
In October 2024, a pre-kick-off meeting was held in collaboration with OAC’s partner organisation, Cancer Patients Europe (CPE). This meeting focused on defining the steps and responsibilities necessary to launch the first WellBeingHER pilot in January 2025.
The WBH Programme is strategically designed to begin with a pilot phase, enabling us to refine and stabilise the treatment framework before expanding to a larger patient population and scaling internationally. Following the pre-kick-off meeting, independent pilots for each focus area will be initiated. These smaller-scale pilots will serve as a foundation for the comprehensive WBH pilot, scheduled to commence in the second half of 2025.
Since October, significant progress has been made in preparation for the January launch of the Physical Activity pilot. This includes developing the WBH website and translating and adapting materials to support the initiative. Concurrently, partnerships are being finalised, and materials are being prepared for the two additional focus areas of WBH:
• Healthy Nutrition –
Pilot launch in late March 2025
• Mental Wellbeing –
Pilot launch late March 2025
By initiating these independent pilots in the first quarter of 2025, we are laying the groundwork for the full-scale WBH pilot by mid-2025. This milestone marks a significant step forward in improving the lives of breast cancer patients, aligning with our mission to deliver transformative care as planned.
